Thank you for visiting Erick's story page. He was a young man who left us far too soon. Now touched by the grace of God, may his light brightly shine deep within our hearts forever. May his name and memory bring a smile to our face with a sense of fulfillment that he once walked by our side. It is with honor I can share a brief story about my friend, Erick.
Erick Eduardo Navichoc Rodriguez was born June 21, 1997 to Ana Marie and Eduardo Hilario. Erick was blessed with many gifts. One was the gift of music. He played the drums and did so with passion. He played not only for his personal pleasure, but shared his inspiration through ministry and spirit. This was Erick's contribution as part of the many worship groups he participated in. Erick shared with everyone from children to seniors. He shared his time with families in the community and was a hard worker to his own home and church. Everyone spoke of Erick in a positive way for in his short time he continued to give so much and touch so many.
Erick was no different than any other kid with favorite colors, numbers, and foods. He was fascinated with football (soccer) and enjoyed playing as most kids do. Erick has two siblings, sister Jacqueline and brother Domingo. They too are blessed with the kind spirit that their brother shared with us all.
When I took my first step towards giving back and serving others I chose a child sponsorship program. I chose a young man from a list of many. Grateful at the opportunity to give what I could to be a mentor and friend. I thank him for the personal feelings of love and joy that I felt as I started my relationship and opportunity.
Erick took his passage home June of 2013 just days before his sixteenth birthday. A devastating loss to his family, school, and his community. Though I did not get a chance to meet Erick in person, I do believe he has shared with me his great gift. The young man that in my mind, I was to mentor, was actually mentoring me. He has put me on the very path that I was to show him. My one-time wish was to see him smile, now my wish is that he could see mine!
