The United Missions of Hope Memorial Scholarship.
The United Missions of Hope Memorial Scholarship is the core initiative to see the advancement in education for this Mayan community. "Las Busqueda de Conocimiento," "The Pursuit of Knowledge" is our motivational theme towards their progress. It is a blessing to partner with Tecnológico Bethel, a Christian school in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala, assisting their students with this educational step.
Meet our scholarship recipients.
Sharon Verenice Arriola Quic- 2020
|
Manuel Ezequias Quiacain Sac- 2020
|
Congratulation to our 2020 scholarship recipients, Sharon and Manuel both earning an opportunity in securing their higher education. It is the first year UMH has offered two awards and could not be more proud of our selections as we now step into a new level of global impact by having one student scholarship be dedicated to a young lady. Sharon is our first student selecting a three-year diversified study in engineering and has positioned herself to learn from the "engineer" himself while Manuel has chosen the medical career. Manuel feels the needs of his small village that lacks medical care and it has motivated him to be part of the change. These kids have a vision that comes with knowledge and change all driven by God, desire, and you. It is an honor to participate with you both on your educational journey.
Rommel Modgómery Pop Garcia- 2019
Please welcome our first young man to the scholarship program at Tecnológico Bethel. Rommel, our 2019 selection is also the first student to enter the Graphic Design curriculum as well. Rommel comes from a large family and has spent all his school years in the public education system. He has done well there but recognizes the great opportunity with his scholarship to enter the top diversified study programs in the Western Highlands. It is exciting to partner with Rommel knowing he is inspired to continue his studies at the university after graduation. He regularly turns in consistent grades and we have faith in his desire and abilities. Rommel, a young Christian, works on his personal faith by attending Iglesia Vino Nuevo. |
Lesly Isabel Chiyal Guzmán- 2018
The 2018 scholarship year was a year of new experiences for UMH. It was a transition year in the delivery of the entire program. This literally brought us directly in front of the students who would be applying for the 2018 award. Lesly stuck out of the crowd and earned our third memorial scholarship. It seems like a trend as we selected our third young lady to study in the medical diversified program. Lesly has a great deal of motivation fueling this education as she is not only studying for her future but the future of her siblings. Lesly is doing all she can to provide a future for herself and her family. She has received very good grades in her first year and we are looking for more of the same in 2019. Lesly continues to display great habits as a student and they are definitely paying off. UMH is excited to be part of her dream to receive this higher education in medicine at Tecnologico Bethel. |
Maria Edith Asunción Ajcac- 2017
For the second year in a row we selected another young lady to the medical study program at Tecnologico Bethel. Welcome Maria Edith to a UMH scholarship! Maria Edith has the desire to help others. She is aware of peoples hardships with disease and wants to be part of the solution. Her desire is not just to do this as a doctor but as one who is participating in the research collaboration as well. Maria has successfully completed her two-year diversified medical study at Tecnologico Bethel. She is also currently working in one of the clinics where she did her Q4 practices. Maria Edith graduated from Tecnologico Bethel in the fall of 2018. Our first UMH graduate! Maria Edith will now attend a private university to continue her studies and we are truly proud of her efforts to get to where she is today. It is an honor to be a part of her journey and we look forward to supporting Maria Edith in her university study as part of her UMH Memorial Scholarship. |
Deisy Marie Coché Navichoc- 2016
Deisy was the first recipient of the UMH Scholarship and how special it was. We learned that Deisy had applied for the scholarship on her own and at the time we presented her with her opportunity, was the same time that her family learned about what she had done and what she accomplished. It was truly a beautiful moment for everyone. Deisy chose to study medicine having dreams of becoming a nurse but left the scholarship program late in 2017. Although we felt the same disappointment as she did, we never stopped communicating with her about the importance of an education. This determined young woman from San Juan returned to school the following year to finish her studies and graduated from Tecnologico Bethel in the fall of 2018 on her own merits and with the support her family. The United Missions of Hope shares in her victory and the success she has experienced. Deisy's story is one of determination and love. We will continue to follow Deisy on her journey as much as we can and wish her the best in all she does. We are truly grateful for having the privilege to participate in her education and supporting her as a young lady in life. |
